Pro and Pro Studio Launch November 19: How the Launch Works

Two plans, one purchase, four dates. What Pro adds to the free kit, who each plan is for, and how the waitlist gets the launch price before anyone else.

Pro and Pro Studio launch on November 19. This post is the whole plan in one place: what Pro adds, who each plan is for, the four dates, and how the waitlist gets the launch price before anyone else.

What Pro adds

The free kit gives you a SaaS for one person per account: auth with two-factor, Stripe billing, an admin panel, emails, i18n and the docs. It stays free and MIT licensed, with its own updates. Pro is built on top of it, not taken out of it.

What Pro adds is everything a product needs when people work together:

  • Teams and organizations. Every user keeps a personal space and can open teams next to it. Switching is one click, and every page follows the active workspace.
  • Invitations and ownership. Invite by email with links that expire, resend or cancel them, and hand a team over to someone else without ever leaving it without an owner.
  • Roles beyond user and admin. Owner, admin, member and a read-only viewer, with every check on the server. Your own role is one file.
  • Team billing with seats. The team has its own Stripe customer and portal, pays per seat, and the seats follow the members on their own.
  • Data that belongs to a team. The example project lives in a personal space or in a team, and each role sees and edits what it should. Your own models follow the same pattern.

Around that: team settings, teams in the admin panel, a live demo with sample data, a guided upgrade from the free kit, tests on every permission and billing rule, and guides in English and Italian. The full list is on the Pro page.

Two plans, one codebase

Both plans get the same code. What changes is who uses it and for what.

  • Pro is for one person and their own products. One seat on the private repository, unlimited projects of your own.
  • Pro Studio is for an organization, and client work is included. Up to five people on the private repository, unlimited projects for you and your clients.

Both are a single purchase with updates for life. Updates arrive as commits and tags on a private GitHub repository, and you merge them the way you already take the free kit's. Support is by email and a private Discord, for both plans.

Four dates

DateWhat happens
October 31The launch price goes public. The waitlist already has it.
November 19Pro and Pro Studio launch for the waitlist, at the launch price.
November 27Last day of the launch price. Join the waitlist by then to get it.
November 28Open sale to everyone, at the full price.

There is no pre-order. Nobody pays for anything before November 19, and nobody pays for something that does not exist yet. Until then we keep building and writing about it here.

How the waitlist gets the launch price

  1. Join the waitlist with your email, from the pricing page, the Pro page or the form at the end of this post.
  2. Confirm your email. The first message has one button. Nothing else happens until you click it, so nobody can sign you up without you.
  3. The launch price arrives in the next email, right after you confirm, with the full price next to it and what you save. It is the price you will pay, not an estimate.
  4. On November 19 we email you a code to buy at that price, valid until November 27.

If the second email is not in your inbox a minute after you confirm, look in Promotions or Spam. Gmail in particular likes to file a message with prices in it under Promotions.

Between now and the launch you get one short email when there is real news, and no daily drip. You can unsubscribe with one click from any of them.

Already on the free kit?

You do not have to start over. Pro merges into any project started from version 2.3.0 of the free kit or later, so you keep your work and add teams on top of it. The database migration only adds tables and columns, a check of your data runs before and after, and the upgrade guide takes you through it step by step.

On a version before 2.3.0? Update your project to the free kit's latest release first, following the upgrading guide, and then add Pro the same way. You keep your work there too: the free kit's updates arrive as commits you merge, and the guide lists, release by release, the files where your changes and ours can meet.

If you have not started yet, starting with the free kit today is a safe choice either way: everything you build on it carries over.

Frequently asked questions

When do Pro and Pro Studio launch?

On November 19, for the waitlist, at the launch price. The launch price stays open until November 27. From November 28 both plans are on sale to everyone at the full price.

How do I get the launch price?

Join the waitlist and confirm your email. The launch price of both plans arrives in the next email, right after you confirm, weeks before it is announced publicly on October 31. On November 19 we email you a code to buy at that price, valid until November 27.

Is there a deadline to join the waitlist?

Join by November 27 and the launch price is yours. You do not have to be early: someone who joins on November 25 gets the same price and the same code as someone who joined in July.

Is Pro a subscription?

No. You pay once and every update to the Pro is included for life, including what we add after launch. There is nothing to renew.

What is the difference between Pro and Pro Studio?

The code is the same. Pro is for one person and their own products, with one seat on the private repository. Pro Studio is for an organization, client work included, with up to five people on the repository and unlimited projects for you and your clients.

Can I add Pro to a project I started with the free kit?

Yes. Pro merges into any project started from version 2.3.0 of the free kit or later. The database migration only adds, and a check of your data runs before and after. On an older version, update your project to the free kit's latest release first, following the upgrading guide, and then add Pro.

Why we launch this way

Joining a waitlist means trusting a product before you can buy it. The launch price is how we say thank you for that, and it goes to the people who trusted first, before it goes anywhere else. Sending it only after a confirmed email keeps it for people who asked for it, and keeps the list made of real inboxes.

If that is you, join below. If it is not yet, the free kit keeps shipping either way.
